Long Hairstyles for Spring-Summer 2011

How do you feel about the hairstyles they wear on the podium? Personally I like many masterpieces created by stylists on the heads of models. They are especially good if created for different shows.

As fashion designers offer their trends in clothing, hair stylists offer their hairstyles.

So, this season we can observe such trends in hairstyles as short and long hair or small braids, rollers made from the hair, loose hair, curvy hairstyles and much much more! Furthermore, a special attention should be given to different hair accessories that give the hair an amazing beauty and style.

Well, let's get to the overview:

How to Choose a Hair Style. Square Face Type

A square face type is characterized by a wide forehead, cheekbones, jaw and heavy chin.
Quadratic-faced person is usually characterized by a broad forhead, cheekbone, lower jaw and heavy chin. These people should leave open their forehead, lift hair above the forhead and make it split above. This visually lengthens the face. Such haircuts as chin length haircuts are a perfect match for this type of face. The hair will cover the angles of the face.

A good haircut should come up to the chin, and the hair will cover the the angles of the lower jaw. This will divert attention from some angularity and short "tousled" hair with a "torn" fringe in the middle of the forehead and some wavy or curly hair will softly frame the face.

In conclusion, I'd like to say a few words that you should not unnecessarily harass your feelings about the fact that your appearance has some deviation from the classical canons. After all, sometimes, we can turn our face disadvantages to unique appealing, bright, memorable and charming features!

How to Choose a Hair Style. Long Face Type.

* Long Face Type. People having this type of face are distinguished because of a high forehead and a long chin.

With the help of hair one must optically expand the face on both sides. An ideal haircut will be a hair up to the lower corners of jaw or up to the chin arranged fluffy on tips, a rare or a full bang to the lush eyebrows, or to the volume of sculpture and ears.

If you have a long hair, add them a volume by using curler or perm. A full framing makes a thin and long face wider.

How to Choose a Hair Style. Round Face

Continuation. See the beginning on How to Choose a Hair Style. Oval Face Type

Round face. If you have this kind of face, you should choose a hairstyle, which optically lengthens the face. In this case, it is very important to leave forehead open and the top of the head area must be lush.

With regards to this, short haircut will suit for the round face perfectly and you should lush your hair in the top of the head.

The volume can be given through the fleece, curler, or perm.

If you are a fan of long hairstyles, it is recommended that you arrange hair up, fluff it above the forehead, with no fringe, but it's up to preferences.

Avoid direct and smooth hair parting.

Fringe Hairstyles

Sometimes fringe plays a very important role in a hair-dress. By removing the fringe or, on the contrary, adding it, by changing its length or frames, you can transform the shape beyond recognition.

Fringe hairstyles can be divided on two groups:
  • Fringes that are a constructive element of the model. They are made along he hairstyling process. Once the process is complete, the fringe is combed out in a desirable direction and the ends of the fringe are framed in a proper way;
  • Fringes that are an independent element of a hair dress. The rest of a hairstyle can be of different shape and length. The fringe hairstyle in this case is independent and has its own value.

How correctly to make a fringe hairstyle and what techniques must be used?

Width and thickness of a fringe hairstyle

The fringe w idth is limited to the width of a forehead. It should not come out of temple hollows. Hair for a fringe is separated in a U-shaped mode, triangular or a hair parting, which is parallel to a line of hair growth. The thickness of a fringe depends on the wishes of a person. However the hair density is also very important. The more dense the fringe is, the more hair parting will be removed from a growth line. Someone likes a classical fringe hairstyle with the hair length hardly below the forehead middle. Others prefer a rather thin fringe which falls on eyes, at times hiding a sight. The third have got used to carry a dense bang almost from half of hair.

Classical fringes variants for various hairstyles

For the hair of any type and the most different length.
Tools: straight scissors, thinning shears, a hairbrush. It is possible to cut hair using razor, too. The hairstyle is done almost always on a wet hair. It always demands accuracy and carefulness.

Technics of a fringe hairstyle for an even-length hair

Such fringe is very good for thin or curly hair. To make such bang you'll need to moisten hair, separate the fringe from the hair partings area and pin the fringe up. Then comb out the first lock and cut it at the necessary level. This first lock in this case is a control fringe. Then it is necessary to separate the next lock of hair through 1 sm a horizontal hair parting, both locks must be lifted using a hairbrush perpendicularly to the head and now you can cut off the hair at the level of a control lock. Go on and comb the locks up, cut them following the previous lock's length. To make a fringe hairstyle you can use both a straight cut, and a pointing method. Once the fringe is cut, carefully comb the hair in a direction of its growth and check up a cut line - to make sure that the fringe is cut evenly or in the way you need. The last stage is thinning out the fringe.

Fluffy fringes with a one-line cut

Such fringes fit to a bob hairstyle. The length of a fringe can be any. You can have this fringe in the following way. Rectangular (or to be more exact, U-shaped) hair parting or a hair parting in the form of a triangle it is necessary to separate hair and pin it up. Make a hair parting for all the width of a fringe. The hair parting goes in a parallel line with the hair growth line on a distance of 1 cm. Comb up the extreme lock in the area of the hair growth and cut off the hair at a necessary length. Further the hairstyle is done using a "lock on a lock" technique. For this, the next locks are combed up in about 1 cm disance from each other, then comb the lock over the first lock and cut it at the same level (length).

How to Make a 4-Strand Hair Braid

This hair style is not very difficult as it may look. It only requires a bit more concentration and a little of practice - and your hair will be securely arranged into beautiful braids that will bring something new to the look and your feelings in general

Once you have got the hang of it, you can braid with any even number of strands. The only limitation would be how fast your fingers can plait.

Step 1. Arrange your hair into a pony tail.
Step 2. Divide your pony into four strands with two strands on top and two below. Do not make four strands side by side. As you braid, hold the right strands (top and bottom) in your right hand and the left strands (top and bottom) in your left hand. I pass the strands between my middle to pinky fingers and then use my index finger and thumb to put the strands back and forth as I braid.
Step 3. Now you will need to take the top right strand over the top left strand, and take the bottom right strand over the bottom left strand and pull really firm. This will be the base of your braid. The rest of the braid can be done not so firmly.
Step 4. Now switch the positions of the top left strand with the bottom right strand passing the top strand behind the bottom strand. The crossing must be beneath and between the original top right and bottom left strands. The original top left strand becomes now the new bottom right strand and the original bottom right strand becomes the new top left strand.
Step 5. It's time to switch the positions of the top right strand with the bottom left strand passing the top strand behind the bottom strand. The crossing must be held beneath and between the new top right and bottom left strands. The original top right strand becomes the new bottom left strand and the original bottom left strand becomes the new top right strand.
Step 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 and tie off when the braid is done.

How to Make a French Twist (Instructions)

Step 1:
Take your hair and bring it up to make a pony tail. This is a crucial step. You can fix the pony tail with a twistii or hair elastic. Pull the twistii up.

Step 2: Make a firm twist and roll it clockwise or counter clockwise. Twist your hair all the way down up to the ends, or close to it anyway.

Step 3: Lay your twist straight up the back of your head. Continue twisting. Pin hair starting from the bottom, hiding those pins inward where you don't see them.

Step 4: Pinch the roll in the middle and open it up just enough to sneak the ends inside. Or you can leave the ends loose and arrange them up your head.

Step 5: Take hair pins or a hair comb and slide in the upper section, grabbing just a bit of hair in the twist and sliding it in and under, into the roll. Do the same for the lower section.

Step 6: Once you have your French Twist in place, you can add sticks into the hair. Insert the stick in the ledge you've just created. Extend the stick to see one full edge, touch the tip to the skull and let it comfortably drag in the reverse direction across the skull as you bring it down into your hair design. Take the second stick and do the same.

Step 7: To make your hair style firmer, you can add a bit of Aloe Vera Gel, oils, or hair spray, and smooth the sides down.

Your French Twist is now completed and you are ready to go.

French Braided Bun

This is a pretty and easy hair style to do as long as you are familiar with the technique of French braiding!

These are some instructions on how to arrange your hair into a beautiful French braided bun:

Step 1. Make two French braids on both sides of your head similar to the way you do pigtails. You can start anywhere you want, e.g. behind the hairline or other places.
Step 2. When the braids are finished, tie the ends of your braids off.
Step 3. Wrap one of the braids into a bun and then wrap another braid around the first bun.
Step 4. Secure the bun with bobby pins or claw clips.

Enjoy your hair style for a long time because it is very secure and will last on your head for a good day if not more.

You can leave the tips of the braids loose and arrange them up your head similar to this:

Chinese Bun

I decided to make several experiments with hair buns. The first experiment is Chinese Bun. I'm sure most of you have already tried this hair style or others like this. But this is the first time I do it, so please don't be too strict to me. I'll try to explain the steps I've done to arrange hair in Chinese Bun:

1. Arrange your hair in a ponytail. You can place the ponytail high or low, this makes no big difference. It's just to your preferences.

2. Put a hairstick horizontally in the root of the tail.

3. The next step is to divide hair into two equal parts. Put each part up, over and behind the hairstick.

4. Wrap the hair parts in opposite directions around the ponytail holder and loop around the hairstick.

5. Add hair pins, scrunchie, or other holders that will secure the bun on top or underneath.

Hair Bun With Ponytail

How to make a hair bun with ponytail

Most probably, you've tried some similar hairstyles and won't find anything new here. But for me, this was a pretty new style to try on.

Here are several instructional steps on how to arrange your hair into a beautiful, yet simple hair bun with ponytail.

1. Make a half up ponytail closer to the top of your head. Part hair from ears and back, it must be about the half of your hair size. This is the part that will represent your pony tail in the completed hair style. Secure your ponytail with an elastic rubber or hair pin.

2. Take hair from below, and make a cinnamon bun around your ponytail (twist your hair aroung the middle of the ponytail).

3. Once the bun is completed, secure it with hair pins or sticks.

Here's the hairstyle you will get:

Also, as a variant of this hair style that makes your bun look really huge, you can take your ponytail hair and twist it around the bun again and put all the hair into one big bun. Secure the bun with hair pins or use sticks.

Shampoo Tips

1. Don't drown in shampoo. One sudsing with a quarter-size squeeze will be fine.
2. Don't vigorously rub braids or weaves but do rinse in cascades of water to clean.
3. Do wash more frequently if you have itching, flaking or dandruff. These conditions are not due to dryness.
4. Do thoroughly rinse out conditioner, or the residue will dirty your hair faster.
5. Don't wash hair more often than you need to. Contrary to advertising, hair types with a dry tendency (for example gray or African-American hair) may need washing only once a week.
6. Don't use the hottest setting on the hair dryer; use it over time, it's damaging.
7. Do allow hair sometimes to air-dry, then arrange it with your fingers. Use gels, mousses and lotions to calm it.
8. Don't brush wet hair. Use a wide-tooth comb, starting at the bottom, to ease out tangles.

How To French Braid Hair (description)

There are two ways to French braid hair: ordinary and backward braiding.

Let’s see how to get an ordinary French braid. Thoroughly brush dry or slightly wet hair and comb it back. To begin the braid, start by dividing it into 3 equal pieces.

Hold the right most piece in the right hand. The other two pieces will be in your left hand. Begin with rolling your left hand crossing the left piece over the central piece and passing them both into your right hand.

Take the lower piece in your left hand and put the right strand over the top. Starting with this left strand, we’ll add more hair into the braid. This will be French braiding. Take the hair into your left hand and cross it over on the top of the other two. Take with your left hand a new portion of hair and bring it over the top of the last braided piece. This will make one bigger strand. Go on braiding in a usual way. Grab a small amount of hair from the right side and act in the same way as you did with the left strand. Don’t forget to keep the braid tight not to lose it.
